The working group ‘Biomass Gasification’ from the renewable energy organisation ‘Fördergesellschaft Erneuerbare Energien e.V.’ (FEE) meets on a regular basis to discuss relevant topics. The title of the third meeting was ‘Methods to clean wood gas – Is the theory still relevant for the practical process?’, which took place on 03.04.2017 at the EVT in Nürnberg.

The first part of the meeting was dedicated to the fundamentals of the gasification and the gas purification technologies, which was presented by Prof. Stefan Beer (OTH Amberg-Weiden) and Prof. Jürgen Karl (FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg). The second part consisted of experiences obtained through different operation plants. Dr. Matthias Kuba (Bioenergie2020+) talked about the wood gasification power plant in Senden and Oberwart in Germany, whilst Klaus Röhrmoser (ReGaWatt/Gammel Engineering) spoke from experiences of their gasification plant.

Afterwards, Dr. Peter Wunsch’s (Bayern Innovativ) presentation focused on funding possibilities specifically for topics related to wood gasification. This was followed by numerous short contributions from different research institutes about ‘Uni2Buisness – research and cooperation opportunities’. The meeting ended with a joint dinner in Nürnberg’s historical city centre.
